A simple planning tool
What to bring when touring a community.
Use this large-print checklist to keep the important questions close while you compare 55+ communities.
Before you go
- Write down the two or three things that matter most to you.
- Bring a family member or trusted friend if you would like another set of eyes and ears.
- Keep this checklist and a pen with you for notes.
Questions to ask
- What are the monthly fees, and what do they include?
- Are there rules about pets, guests, parking, or renting?
- What upkeep is the homeowner responsible for?
- Are there any current or planned assessments?
- Which activities and amenities would you use regularly?
Before you leave
- Notice how the drive, parking, walkways, and common areas feel to you.
- Write down what you liked, what concerned you, and what you still need to ask.
- Compare the community with your everyday routine, not only the home itself.
